During this festive time of year, please spread your joy by supporting the Endless Mountains Nature Center as we work to connect more people with the incredibly beautiful, natural
world around us. Appreciating just how fortunate we are to have nesting Bald Eagles, large, strong trees covering mountain sides, and rich, healthy soils in northeastern Pennsylvania, is the focus of our work. Two major events happened at the Endless Mountains Nature Center during 2016, which make our work easier.
The first event was the donation of 45 acres of forest land by Joseph Macialek. The land is closer to Tunkhannock and less than a mile from Route 6, making us more accessible in a shorter amount of time. Plans for the property include trails, and possibly a pavilion and restroom that will be open to the public. We’ll continue to rent the lodge and use the grounds on the Vosburg
Neck inside Camp Lackawanna. Their 350+ acres along the Susquehanna River is just too spectacular and special for us to leave.
The second event was the expansion of Nature Day Camp—we TRIPLED the number of campers! By offering bus transportation and greatly reducing tuition, many more families were able to send their children to camp. By mid-August, 267 campers had taken part in our science-based day camps. Thanks to some generous donations this expansion was possible.
Along with day camp and trail development, our 2017 plans include the return of the Vosburg Neck Festival on the first weekend of May and a variety of new programs. They will focus on your health and connection with nature. Our new Program Manager, Brooke Shingler is leading this exciting change.
We need your support to make these plans a reality. Any amount is helpful, but please be generous.
