Endless Mountains Nature Center

Workshop led by Naturalist Brooke Jean Sundance

Learn how to inoculate wood chips with Wine Cap Mushroom sawdust spawn (Stropharia rugosaannulata).  It’s one of the easiest mushrooms to grow for beginners because its easily identified and it quickly colonizes wood chips. Typically this species fruits a little in the spring and produces a large crop in the fall. Wine Caps are the perfect mushroom for gardening and permaculture projects, working symbiotically with your garden veggies! It can also be used to mulch the floors of our farm animals friends, as this mushroom is predatory on coliform bacteria and can help keep your coops clean!

This will be a hands on workshop, where we will have you help inoculate a wood chip bed for the Nature Center.  We will also demonstrate another method for growing Shiitake mushrooms!
